Great Sports Rivalry

I have covered sports in the Bay Area since 1979 for KTVU Channel Two, and from time to time various viewers will ask me.... "After all these years what is it that keeps you interested in sports?" I always tell them it boils down to two things: The people who play the games are the best athletes in the world, and watching them perform incredible feats will never get boring, especially for someone like me who has tried doing many of the same things and can only sit and wonder how they do it so well. Secondly, I still get a kick out of the great sports rivalries that are forged over the years — not just the famous ones like Giants-Dodgers, Red Sox-Yankees, Cal-Stanford, etc. — but local match ups that evoke so much emotion, for instance, the great battles that San Ramon High School has had over the years with Monte Vista.
